Unfolding the stress of folding: Thoughts on the 2-way structure and overall length

The true nature of "difficulty in folding" and the reason for choosing a two-section shaft

When this umbrella was first planned, production numbers were kept very low. The "2-WAY structure" itself, which allows it to be used like both a long umbrella and a folding umbrella, is a mechanism that has existed for a long time. However, due to its structure, the shaft (central pole) has a two-section design, making its stored length approximately 34cm, longer than a typical three-fold umbrella. We believed it wouldn't fit easily into smaller bags and wouldn't be universally popular.

However, after being featured in the fashion magazine "SPUR," it sold out much faster than expected. Now that it's back in stock, as a designer, I've realized anew that the daily action of "folding an umbrella" was a greater burden when moving around the city than the compactness when stored.

The convenience of "folding it long" keeps the city moving

Modern folding umbrellas predominantly feature a convenient mechanism where the ribs fold in conjunction when closed. However, to store them neatly, you still need to carefully trace the fabric along the creases and smooth it out by hand. This very task, getting your hands wet on a rainy day, was disrupting the pace of movement.

The greatest feature of this product is that it can be "folded long." When entering commercial facilities or trains, you can simply gather the fabric like a long umbrella with the shaft extended. It has two name bands, one on the inside and one on the outside, allowing it to fit smoothly into umbrella bags or stands designed for long umbrellas. You only fold the ribs when you want to put it in your bag. This dual use allows you to keep moving without interruption.

100% light-blocking and high water resistance provide peace of mind in all weather conditions

The frame uses a "7-rib" construction that combines lightness with the strength to withstand winds of 15m/s, achieving reliable rigidity while maintaining a light weight of approximately 210g.

The fabric used is "HEATBLOCK Aluminum Silver," which incorporates fine aluminum particles into a polyurethane coating. It offers 100% light blocking, UPF50+ performance, and high heat-shielding effects, physically repelling strong sunlight.

Furthermore, its water pressure resistance boasts over 14,940mm, far exceeding the standard for regular rain umbrellas. This all-weather umbrella can lightly handle both intense summer sun and sudden heavy rain. Just by eliminating one folding step, your daily walks in the city become surprisingly comfortable.
