Our Journey Began with a Single Folding Umbrella

Our journey at Amvel began with the development of a single folding umbrella. Yoshihiro Tsujino, our representative, has been involved in the umbrella industry for many years, ever since he joined a long-established umbrella manufacturer founded in 1884 when he was 19.

At a time when his workplace was primarily focused on wholesale business, Tsujino strongly felt the need for "original product planning." He personally visited factories in Taiwan and China, thoroughly learning about materials and manufacturing techniques on site. He then dedicated himself to developing products with new functionalities, such as highly water-repellent fabrics and wind-resistant frames.

A Turning Point and the Establishment of "Amvel"

A major turning point came in 2016. An unexpected situation arose when the parent company he was working for went bankrupt, and they faced a crisis of product supply stopping right before the rainy season, when umbrella demand increases.

The connections he had built with business partners and factories supported him through this predicament. With warm encouragement from those who wanted to "support Tsujino's umbrella making," he established the new company "Amvel" with his colleagues, Minoru Sugiyama and Tomoo Kanno. Our origin lies in the trust we received at that time and our desire to make better umbrellas.

From "Disposable" to a "Always-on-Hand" Lifestyle

Amvel's aim is to propose a shift "from disposable to always-on-hand." We want to deliver the comfort of always having a functional folding umbrella in your bag, rather than treating umbrellas as mere consumables to be discarded.

To achieve this, we prioritize focusing on the user's perspective rather than competing with other companies. Without being bound by cost or manufacturing conventions, we have pursued "how to make it lighter" and "how to make it more comfortable." As a result, we have created products with practical features such as automatic opening and closing umbrellas lighter than smartphones, and umbrellas with high light-blocking properties.

What we value in product development is not just improving specs. It's about enriching daily life by making commutes a little lighter or making outings on rainy days more enjoyable through the use of our umbrellas.

We will continue to be close to the daily lives of our users and pursue umbrellas with truly sought-after functions and value.
