A sudden gust on a summer afternoon, or the moment you are buffeted by wind between buildings. The most unsettling thing when using a parasol is the fear that the wind might break it. In developing the "KALCT HEATBLOCK," alongside lightness, we pursued a "science of structure" that remains unperturbed by even the harshest winds.

Design-registered, uniquely developed "Integrated Resin Joint"

Many conventional umbrellas use metal parts for the joints that connect the ribs. However, when subjected to strong impacts, metal can bend and fail to return to its original shape, or stress can concentrate at the joints, causing them to snap.

The answer we arrived at is our design-registered "Integrated Resin Joint." The greatest feature of this structure is that it doesn't take the impact of the wind at a single point, but rather "deflects" it across the entire joint. By leveraging the inherent flexibility of resin, the framework moves elastically against wind pressure, preventing the concentration of stress that leads to breakage.

Numerical proof of all-direction wind resistance

To verify the true value of this structure, we conducted rigorous wind tunnel testing by a third-party organization. The test involved subjecting the umbrella to wind from every angle (0°, 45°, 90°, 135°, and 180°)—horizontally, diagonally, from directly above, and from behind.

For the test, we adopted conditions of accelerating to a wind speed of 15 m/s (54 km/h) and maintaining it for one minute. A speed of 54 km/h is comparable to a car driving on a public road, a strong wind that makes signs rattle and makes walking feel difficult. Even under these extreme conditions, no breakage, significant deformation, or abnormalities in the stitching were observed in the KALCT framework.

Furthermore, its toughness remained unwavering even in a "repeated strength test," where the closing operation was performed 100 times after the umbrella had been inverted (turned inside out).
