The KALCT HEATBLOCK Aluminum Silver was created to solve the conflicting problems of weight and heat when it comes to parasols. This high-spec parasol is a new concept, combining outstanding lightness at just 200g with a 91.2% heat-blocking effect, providing the coolness of being in the shade of a tree.

The all-carbon frame is exceptionally light, weighing just 200g. All of the main components, including the center rod, ribs, and support ribs, are made of lightweight carbon fiber, the same material used in aircraft. This makes the umbrella comparable in weight to a typical lightweight folding umbrella.

The silver color provides a cool, 91.2% heat-blocking effect. The special fabric is densely coated with PU containing aluminum particles, effectively reflecting sunlight. In addition to blocking 100% of light, it also blocks 99.9% of near-infrared rays, which cause heat.

The flexible yet strong structure can withstand winds up to 15m/s. The elasticity of the carbon fiber and the use of an integrated resin joint allow it to flexibly withstand strong winds. It has passed a third-party wind resistance test at 15m/s.

With the heatwaves getting more intense every year, parasols have become a summer necessity. Looking around town, many people are choosing folding umbrellas that are easy to carry. However, after more than 30 years of researching umbrellas, I have come to realize one "true feeling": "It's actually a real hassle to have to fold them up neatly every time you use them." For a quick shopping trip or a short trip to the station, a long umbrella that you can quickly close and start walking should be far easier in such situations. Yet the reason long umbrellas are avoided is simply because they are heavy and a burden to carry.

"If we could just eliminate the weight of long umbrellas, summer would be much more comfortable." This approximately 200g long umbrella was born from that belief. We combined lightweight carbon fiber, the same material used in aircraft, with an ultra-thin 20-denier polyester fabric that's just 0.06mm thick, to create a long umbrella that weighs about the same as a smartphone. It's as compact as possible when carried, yet large enough to be used safely on rainy days. What's more, we've used a silver fabric that physically reflects heat. This allows it to provide the same level of coolness, or even more, than a white umbrella, known for its excellent heat-blocking properties.

The choice of a long umbrella also marks a return to "strength." We've seen countless people struggling with their folding umbrellas, blown inside out by the wind in scorching city heat. Folding structures with many joints inevitably make them vulnerable to wind. In our comparative testing, a typical lightweight folding umbrella turned inside out at a wind speed of 8 m/s (the kind of wind that would blow your hat away if you didn't hold it down), while the KALCT was proven to withstand wind speeds of up to 11 m/s.
