Driven by the belief that you should be able to handle your umbrella as smartly when closing it as when opening it, we took on the challenge of making it easier to fold.
The frustration that high-performance parasols are often "too thick and difficult to fold" is common. To solve this, we arrived at "Second-Speed Pleats"—a technique that embeds creases directly into the fibers themselves.
A magical storage experience brought to you by shape memory
Most existing "easy-to-fold" umbrellas use resin panels attached to the back of the fabric. However, this adds weight and makes the umbrella bulky when folded. We sought to be as light and slim as possible.
Second-Speed Pleats use a technology where creases are set into special "core-sheath" fibers through heat treatment. The fabric is just 0.13mm thick. Because it uses a single-layer structure without panels, it retains the natural flexibility of the umbrella while allowing the fabric to align itself neatly along the creases the moment you close it.
