Ending the "compromise" of folding umbrellas
"With folding umbrellas, if you choose lightness, your shoulders get wet. If you choose size, they become too heavy and cumbersome to carry." After we released VERYKAL, many customers told us, "With your expertise at Amvel, you should be able to make a larger one with this same lightness." To eliminate the stresses of rainy days and truly make everyday life more comfortable for our users, we had to respond sincerely to these conflicting needs. That passion was the starting point for this new development.
Condensed into 210g: The vision of 1,700 people and an excellent balance
The most difficult part of the development was drastically increasing the coverage area while maintaining the "slim silhouette" and "astonishing lightness" that are the hallmarks of VERYKAL. While comparable automatic-opening umbrellas weigh between 280g and 350g, we set a goal of 210g—about the weight of a single smartphone. We didn't just want to make it larger; we pursued a "golden ratio" between slimness when stored and a sense of security when in use. This challenge was supported by 1,700 people through crowdfunding and achieved such a high level of perfection that even gadget-savvy YouTubers recommended it voluntarily.
A "large roof" supported by aircraft-grade materials and 15-denier fabric
The core of the technical logic is the fusion of a durable carbon fiber frame, also used in aircraft, and a 15-denier ultra-lightweight fabric, also used in stockings. While securing a spacious 107cm diameter, it also achieves the toughness to withstand wind speeds of 15m/s. Furthermore, we added reinforcement parts to the shaft, the heart of the automatic opening and closing mechanism, to ensure the durability required for long-term use. By thoroughly refining every detail, we elevated this to an ideal product that is "light and large, yet sturdy."
