Product Development Story | Lifoop

Hello, this is Tsujino from Amvel. We are dedicated to making umbrellas every day, and the most common question we receive from customers is about "maintenance when water repellency declines." Some commercially available waterproof sprays can impair the breathability of the fabric or leave a white powdery residue.

That's why we chose "LIFOOP," developed by Sankyo Chemical, a chemical manufacturer also based in Nagoya. Although it is not a product we developed ourselves, as umbrella specialists, we judged it to be suitable for maintenance and have decided to offer it.

When caring for umbrellas, please be especially careful not to "over-spray." If you apply too much, thinking it's better, it can drip and cause stains. LIFOOP has high adhesion, so a "very small, quick spray" is enough to achieve sufficient results.

However, please note that it contains silicone components and therefore cannot be used on polyurethane (PU) material surfaces, as this may cause stickiness or deterioration.

The key to enhancing its effectiveness lies in preparation. First, quickly rinse off dirt with a shower at about 40 degrees Celsius, and then dry thoroughly. After that, spray a small amount from a slight distance from the fabric.

The key is to focus particularly on the "folds of the fabric," which are prone to wear and loss of water repellency. Instead of applying a lot at once, repeat the process of "spraying thinly and drying" as needed to achieve a solid water-repellent effect while preventing stains.

Maintain your favorite umbrella properly to make it last longer. We hope that LIFOOP care will help you enjoy your cherished items for a longer time. Please give it a try to make your rainy day outings even a little more comfortable.
