What part of an umbrella do you touch most often when you use it for a long time? It's not the "fabric" that gives the umbrella its character, but the handle. This time, we've chosen to sell "just the handle" instead of the entire umbrella. It may seem like an ordinary part at first glance, but it holds vital reasons that determine the completeness of the umbrella as a tool.
Breathe new life into your familiar umbrella
Folding umbrella handles are typically short, about 3cm, in pursuit of compactness. However, due to recent climate change, there has been an increase in days with sudden strong winds and heavy rain. In such situations, supporting a small handle with just your fingertips feels unreliable, and the stability of gripping it firmly with your fist, like an automatic opening and closing umbrella, is desired.
Furthermore, resin parts, which are often used as handle materials, had the unavoidable problem of becoming "sticky" due to age-related deterioration. We wanted to eliminate the frustrating experience of giving up on a favorite umbrella just because the handle had deteriorated. With this in mind, we decided to offer high-density EVA handles as a standalone product.
"High-density EVA" brings an astonishingly light sense of unity
The newly developed handle uses high-density EVA, which is also used for the soles of sports shoes. The biggest features of this material are its astonishing lightness and its grip that is not lost even when wet. Including the strap, the weight is approximately 16g. When held, the umbrella's center of gravity shifts towards the hand, making the umbrella feel lighter than its numerical weight.
It's less likely to transmit the cold of winter, and less likely to slip even with summer sweat. And above all, that unpleasant stickiness is less likely to occur. By securing a "firmly grippable length" of 7cm, it reduces the anxiety of the umbrella being blown about on windy days and provides a sense of unity as if it has become a part of your body.
This handle is screw-on, and can be attached not only to our "TOUGHNESS" and "KALCT" series but also to folding umbrellas from other companies with matching screw standards.
