A beautiful 30-second ritual to awaken the memory of the fold.
We wanted to transform the nuisance of folding an umbrella into a pleasant experience. With this in mind, we created a structure called "Speed Pleats," which prevents the creases from collapsing. It was a design challenge to eliminate small daily stresses and help people spend their rainy or sunny days smartly.
However, we sometimes hear honest feedback from customers who tell us, "It doesn't fold as neatly as I thought," or "It takes quite a long time." As creators, our job doesn't end with delivering a product; we want to gracefully accompany our customers through their daily lives. So, this time, from the perspective of a designer who understands umbrella structures, we'd like to share some small tips for folding an umbrella to bring out its inherent beauty.
The key is the "inside." Awaken the umbrella's memory.
First, after closing the umbrella, try gently shaking it 2-3 times from side to side. This simple action is actually very important. The umbrella fabric has a natural tendency to return to its original folds. A gentle shake awakens this "memory," and about 80% of the umbrella naturally returns to its beautiful original creases.
Next, and this is the most crucial point: the reason many people find themselves thinking, "It doesn't fold as neatly as I thought," is actually due to the "inside."
If you only try to pull and roll the outer fabric, the inner fabric will remain crumpled and caught between the ribs, and it will never fold neatly. Before touching the outside, first place your hand on the inside of the umbrella and gently smooth the fabric between the ribs. Just this small extra step will dramatically change the final result.

The final touch creates a beautiful 30-second habit.
Once the inside is tidy, finish the outside. There should be about 2-3 spots where the outer corners are slightly tucked inward. Gently reshape them.

Then, simply roll the band along the creases and store it.

While these steps might seem numerous when written down, once you get the hang of it and become accustomed, you'll be able to fold it smoothly in about 30 seconds. A neatly folded umbrella reduces unnecessary strain on the fabric and helps extend the overall life of the umbrella.
Treat your favorite tool with a little care, as if having a conversation. This new 30-second habit is sure to transform your daily life into a more refined and pleasant experience.
