Why consistent specifications lead to reliable quality

Amvel's rain umbrellas, parasols, and dual-purpose umbrellas share a clear design philosophy: "not to produce annual models that follow trends."

It might seem fresh to update umbrella frames, fabric weaving, and sewing specifications every year. However, new specifications harbor risks of unexpected problems and initial defects. We value the continuous production of excellent, perfected specifications for many years and hundreds of thousands of units.

The Meaning of Continuously Producing the Same Specifications at the Same Factory

Our production bases are overseas, and skilled workers at local factories are responsible for production. It is precisely because the same workers repeatedly produce umbrellas with the same specifications that their manual dexterity is honed, and product quality is stabilized to the extreme.

The oldest product in our lineup is the ultra-lightweight folding umbrella "pentagon72," which debuted in the spring of 2018. Before we knew it, it had been supporting the daily lives of customers worldwide for over eight years without changing its basic design.

The base currency for factory trade is the US dollar. In 2018, the exchange rate was approximately 108 yen per dollar. However, today, the rate is around 161 yen, a depreciation of about 1.5 times. During this period, global raw material costs also soared, and local minimum wages increased.

"Once a price is set, it should not be easily changed."

With this strong belief, we have absorbed incidental work and costs ourselves, keeping prices unchanged until now. However, with the current depreciation of the yen becoming entrenched, in order to maintain "uncompromising quality" such as 100% light-blocking fabric and robust frames, and to continue sustainable manufacturing, we have no choice but to revise our prices.

While this is very regrettable news, we will sequentially revise prices as follows, in order of production lot:

• VERYKAL8: ¥6,000 → ¥7,000 (Revised from August 1)

• pentagon72: ¥4,000 → ¥5,000 (Sequentially from autumn)

• pentagon LARGE: ¥4,500 → ¥5,500 (Sequentially from autumn)

• VERYKAL: ¥5,000 → ¥6,000 (Sequentially from autumn) *All prices are exclusive of tax. Other product numbers are also planned for sequential review according to future production lots.

Our umbrellas are not mere consumables but "tools" to enhance the quality of life. We promise to continue delivering unchanging quality, providing the richness of heart and true peace of mind that comes from taking good care of your favorite umbrella for a long time, with simple maintenance such as air-drying it thoroughly after use.
