A structure that "deflects the wind" rather than "resists the wind"

The reason why TOUGHNESS can withstand harsh conditions such as wind speeds of 30 m/s (typhoon-like winds) is because of its flexible frame structure that makes use of the characteristics of the material.

• Polycarbonate is used for the frame: By using extremely flexible polycarbonate, the frame can deflect wind pressure with its elasticity.

• The ribs are made of glass fiber reinforced plastic (GFRP): a lightweight yet strong material also used in fishing rods and helmets. Its flexible bending absorbs the impact of wind and prevents the entire frame from breaking.

• Stable 8 ribs: Instead of the 6 ribs common in typical folding umbrellas, this umbrella is supported by 8 ribs, dramatically improving structural stability.

In a wind resistance test conducted to demonstrate this durability, the umbrella was subjected to wind at a speed of 30 m/s from three angles: 0 degrees, 135 degrees, and 180 degrees, and it remained unbroken at any of these angles.
