When you're driving at night with an umbrella, can drivers see you?

Have you ever wondered how difficult it is for a driver to see pedestrians on a rainy night? The sound of heavy rain, water droplets hitting the windshield, and the headlights of oncoming vehicles... Under adverse conditions, the presence of pedestrians becomes less apparent than you might imagine.

In particular, when you are using an umbrella, surrounding sounds are blocked and your field of vision is narrowed. Up until now, umbrellas have focused on "staying dry," but I felt that the "visibility" aspect of alerting others to your presence had been left behind. Of course, an umbrella alone cannot completely prevent traffic accidents, and you should never rely on it too much. However, I felt that it was my mission as an umbrella specialist to create a "trigger" that would allow drivers to quickly become aware of the presence of pedestrians.

The idea is to cover the entire surface of the fabric with "light"

During the development process, I focused on the quality and expression of the reflective material. Simply wrapping reflective tape around the edge of the umbrella not only detracts from the design, but also reduces the reflective efficiency depending on the angle at which the umbrella is held.

That's why we adopted 3M™ reflective technology, which supports road safety around the world. This material is characterized by its extremely high retroreflective properties, which reflect light from car headlights and other sources straight back towards the light source.

After much trial and error, we printed this 3M™ reflective material all over the fabric. When light hits it in the dark at night, the umbrella's silhouette becomes a "light that stands out." We adjusted the print density down to the millimeter, achieving a balance between functionality and beauty, blending in with the urban charcoal gray design during the day and increasing visibility at night.

Amber's "framework" combines lightness and strength

No matter how functional it is, it's pointless if it's heavy and difficult to use. In this series, we have prepared three different variations based on the structure of our signature "VERYKAL."

The umbrella frame is generously made of lightweight, high-strength carbon fiber, the same material used in aircraft.Even though it is an automatic opening and closing model, it is so light that you will forget you are holding it.
